Introducing a New Hiking Experience In The Alpine This Summer

Apr. 7, 2005

Whistler Blackcomb is pleased to announce a new alpine hiking experience this July: Whistler Mountain's Peak Chair will open for awe-inspiring sightseeing and hiking adventures.

Previously only available to intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders during the ski season, the Peak Chair will operate as a sightseeing adventure, taking people high into the alpine. For those that thought the Whistler Gondola ascended to high elevations, the Peak Chair will surprise them even more.

The Peak Chair rises to an elevation of 7160 feet above sea level. The views are absolutely stunning. It is the highest point on Whistler Mountain offering unparalleled viewing, 360 degree vistas of snowcapped mountain peaks, Black Tusk, and the entire West Coast Mountain Range.

Once at the top, active guests can access nine more hiking trails spanning 35 km including two all new hiking trails. One can hike where one skied just months before!

To access the Peak Chair experience, guests will have to disembark the Whistler Gondola at the Roundhouse Lodge restaurant and saunter down a guided pathway for about ten minutes.
