After wall to wall sunshine during Whistler’s World Cup, it was back to snowfall conditions for North America’s biggest resort.
“We didn’t have a whole lot of snow in February. Only 95cm compared to the average 155cm, but that meant excellent race conditions for racers,” say’s Alex Hearn, the voice of Whistler Blackcomb’s snowphone.
"Now that the races are done, Mother Nature seems to be gearing up to give the powder hungry skier and riders the stuff they’ve been waiting for.”
More than 25 cm (10 in.) fell on Whistler Blackcomb in the first 48 hours on March. So far in the 2007-08 season, Whistler Blackcomb has received 802cm (315 in.) and typically receives 733cm (1,861 in.) by March 1. Whistler Blackcomb is on track to surpass the annual average snowfall of 10.21 Metres (33.5 feet) for the third year in a row.
