Spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb, the Peak 2 Peak is an eleven-minute journey to infinite possibilities.

On December 12th, 2008, the Peak 2 Peak airborne gondola, high above Whistler BC, Canada, starts.

It will be the longest unsupported lift span in the world - a total of 1.88 miles - and it will have the highest lift of its kind, at 1,361 feet, with four supporting towers, two on Blackcomb Mountain and two on Whistler Mountain.

The gondola ride means skiers and riders have easier and more convenient access to more than 8,171 acres of terrain for all levels on Blackcomb and Whistler mountains.

During the summer months, the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will add safe thrills to the area's incredible alpine hiking and sightseeing on both mountains. It will travel at 25 feet per second for a ride that lasts about 11 minutes. One cabin will leave every 49 seconds. The 28 cabins each hold 28 passengers, including four standing, so a total of 2,050 people can be transported per hour each way.
